Rui Chen Wins the 2012 Macau Poker Cup Main Event Championship!
It was one of the most exciting final tables we have ever witnessed. It was one of the most dramatic heads-up battles in the history of PokerStars Macau, but eventually a champion had to be crowned and the man of the moment is Rui Chen.
Chen started the day as the chip leader and managed to weave his big stack all the way to the victory. However, it wasn't an easy path, with plenty of ups and downs before he was able to secure the MPCC title for China.
For his effort, Chen goes home with the trophy, all the glory and the HK$1,108,500 first-place prize! That concludes our live coverage of the 2012 MPCC, but we will return with a full wrap of the final day's action shortly.
12.05am: Yosuke Sekiya Eliminated in 2nd Place (HK$759,000), Rui Chen Wins!
The end had to come eventually and with a big final hand, the 2012 MPCC Main Event has been crowned! The final hand of the event saw Yosuke Sekiya all in holding [ks][jc] against Rui Chen's [kc][qc]. Sekiya's rail was up and about just as they had been every time Sekiya was all in, but with a board running out [2d][ts][6h][4s][8d], it was all over for Sekiya in an extremely solid 2nd place.
For that effort, not only does Sekiya go home with HK$759,000, but he also moves to sit atop the Asia Player of the Year leader board! With that, China's Rui Chen is the winner of the 2012 Macau Poker Cup Championship Main Event!
11.55pm: The Rail Here is Out of Their Mind
It's time like these we really wish someone was filming this rail. It honestly can only be described as insanity. Yosuke Sekiya's rail are shouting loud enough that we are fairly sure that all of Macau can here. The latest hand that saw Sekiya's rail fire up started with Sekiya shoving all in preflop holding [as][3d]. Rui Chen was at risk holding [ac][8d] and could be going home if Sekiya's rail had their way. However, the [5s][ah][4d][9h][qs] board wasn't as kind to Sekiya as the past boards and with that, Chen doubles and Sekiya is the short stack.
11.50pm: Back to Bust One
We are still one elimination away from crowning a champion! The two players are back in their seats and the cards are in the air once again! The chip counts are as follows.
Rui Chen - 2,900,000
Yosuke Sekiya - 2,300,000
