The line has finally died down.
Not only has today set a new record for Macau Millions starting flight, it's now the biggest starting flight of any event ever held at PokerStars LIVE Macau.
More than 550 players have signed up and re-entries are still available. While several of these players arrived today and are taking their first shot at the Macau Millions, a few others are taking their last.
Reigning Macau Millions champion, Shaq Lin, is already on his second entry today. Lin took down this event back in 2011 and won HKD $400,000 in the process. Lin then continued to have an impressive year and ended up winning Asia Player of the Year. Lin went from relative anonymity to Macanese poker stardom over the course of a few tournaments.
Such is the power of the Macau Millions
While Lin currently isn't a top contender for the APOY this year, he still has hopes of keeping his title Macau Millions title. Lin has played multiple Day 1s but fell short each time. Now he's here in Day 1F for one final shot.
There's another Lin in the field who's been trying to make it to Day 2 for some time also: Team PokerStars Pro Celina Lin. Lin is still the only person to win two Red Dragons, but a Day 2 in the Macau Millions has become a white whale for the Team Pro.
Lin has made it deep multiple days but found herself on the wrong end of flips and 70 - 30 situations for most of them. If Lin doesn't make it today, she'll have to wait another to tackle this chip monkey on her back.
Lacey Jones is also attempting to make her first Macau Millions Day 2. Jones has been trying to cross the seven percent threshold since Day 1C but has found herself just short for the past few days.
Jones' closest finish was on Day 1C she when finished 15th. Jones was the last woman standing that day and finished just short of the 10 players who advanced to Day 2.
While there were no woman in Day 2 at that point, both Percy Yung and Team PokerStars Pro Vivian Im qualified on Day 1D. Both Im and Yung aren't playing today as they're satisfied with their results. Yung qualified twice and Im is currently fourth overall with 294,000.
There are currently no players in the top five counts in Day 1F. They'll all be resting up as tomorrow action will start at 2 p.m. rather than 7 p.m.
Several more players will be joining that field by the end of Day 1F. We'll find out exactly how many soon enough.
