It's a big day in the PokerStars LIVE Macau poker room with five different events, an Aussie Millions satellite, and four beautiful shiny Spadies to be won today on the final day of the Asia Championship of Poker (ACOP) series.
It's been an incredible series with record numbers across the board. The ACOP Main Event numbers increased by 10% from last year, surpassing the size of an equivalent event held at the same time in Paris for the World Poker Tour. Over the years to come, the ACOP Main Event should continue to grow to become one of the premier poker events in the world at this buy-in level.
The overall prize pools for the ACOP are also up more than HK$5,000,000 from last year in another sign of the continued growth of poker in this region.
We're getting closer to giving away the gold Spadie in the ACOP Main Event, with Devan Tang and Sunny Jung still engaged in an epic heads-up battle. Jung was able to grab a significant chip lead with a couple of big flushes, but Tang recently took down a sizable pot to claw back some chips. Jung holds about a 2-to-1 chip advantage approaching their first break of the day.
We could also see history made today in the side event action from around the room.
Team PokerStars Pro Celina Lin is the chip leader on the final event of the ACOP schedule, the HK$8,800 No Limit Holdem event. There are 14 players left with Lin striving to become the first female winner of an open ACOP event. Play is about to kick off in that one, so we'll keep an eye on that throughout the afternoon.
