With the Asia Championship of Poker (ACOP) Main Event hitting a bit of a lull with five players remaining, we thought it was a good time to head over to the other side of the PokerStars LIVE Macau poker room and check in on the HK$250,000 High Roller Event which kicked off a short time ago.
At the moment, it appears that 32 players are currently in action, although registration is open for the first four hours of play. They also have an optional one rebuy to take advantage of should they need it, so by the time registration closes, we should see a prize pool well in excess of HK$10 million.
The field is a who's who of the Asia poker world, but some of the highest profile players include Paul Newey, Brandon Meyers, Tom Middleton, Michael Tureniec, Winfred Yu, Aaron Lim, Tom Alner, Jeff Rossiter, Kyle Cheong, John O'Shea, David Vamplew and the defending champion Jonathan Karamalikis.
We also have a couple of Team PokerStars Pros in the field with Eugene Katachalov and Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier taking part, with ElkY flying into Macau just in time for this event.
Also in the field was Asia Player of the Year leader and ACOP Warm-Up winner Jian Yang, but unfortunately his stay was brief as he became the first casualty of the event.
The plan this evening is to play seven one-hour levels, with a quick dinner break after the end of level four which will be around 10:00pm local time.
While our focus will be on the ACOP Main Event, we'll check in on the progress of the High Roller throughout the evening, before bringing you full live coverage of the final table tomorrow afternoon.
