MPC Red Dragon Day 1B: Yip cracks whip to bag most chips

Yip emerged late on with that huge stack of chips, more even than Xujun Huang of China, whose 120,100 at close was the mostly the result of some amazing early levels. Huang was pegged back as the day wore on, but must still be happy with his tally at this stage.

Two of poker's most glittering lights came out in Macau as well today, in the forms of the Team PokerStars Pro Asia duo of Celina Lin and Vivian Im. Both of them lasted throughout and endured fluctuating fortunes.

Lin was up to about 50,000 at one point, then found herself next to Yip for a lot of the latter stages. She finished with 38,300 which is still more than average.

Im was also up to the dizzy heights of the high 50,000s mid-way through the day, but she was one of three people who flopped a straight with king-ten on a board of [9c][jc][qc]. It just so happened that another one of those - Chul Park of Korea - had [kc][10c] for the straight flush. Yeah, that's pretty much unbeatable.

Im finished with 17,900, and can start again on Sunday. Park, however, is close on the shoulders of the leaders. He has 119,700.

So yet again it was a terrific and unpredictable day chasing the Red Dragon. The full list of counts from today's survivors can be seen on the chip-count page.
